Smart Ring
Team Members: Faith, Janice, Chin Song and Yu Quan
Background:
Students and office workers are often given access to certain part of the school or office. This is to improve the security of the place, as it prevent any unauthorized personnel for entering the region. As a result, they often have to carry an access card around when they go from one area to another.
When one forget to bring their access card from the area, they will have to wait for someone to open the door for them.
Problem Statement:
How might we design a NFC tag to store information that can easily be used to improve the convenience of students and office workers in schools and offices?
Our Solution:
Our design have designed a passive ring with a rotating exterior ring. Within the ring, we have incoporate NFC tags, which stores the user's access data. The interior wall of the ring is lined up
with copper tape, which serve as a Faraday cage to prevent any other device from reading the tag when not in used. When needed, the user will rotate the exterior ring to reveal the NFC tag.
Future Improvements:
We hope to incoporate LED that lights up when data is access. We also hope to make it more aestheically appealing, incoporate more NFC tags and include the ability to store other RFID/NFC based card data into the tag.
